A late super goal from Jack Battie won a game of very few chances. It was a very fair game with a 'can we have you every week' Ref helping the flow of the game. Eastbourne played their part and will feel slightly p!ssed 0ff that a late Guildford goal settled it.

My first City game this season, I think they played some nice football and deserved the win, Eastbourne were no mugs though. I reckon City can be looking forward to a decent run in the Vase now.

A close game against a good side. Dean's substitutions in the 2nd half changed the game to our favour. Dan Harding looks a great signing, but also Jack Battie played his part, leading up to his amazing last minute winner. Pure Class of a goal, not seen many better at the Spectrum. Another big game on Wednesday night against Hogs Back rivals Farnham Town. My interview with Dean after the match can be listened to here - guildfordcityfc.files.wordpress.com/2016/09/eastbourneuhdthomasfav2016.mp3

One can only offer commiserations.
How sad to learn from the FA Vase News last night that City had been eliminated from the competition as a result of an objection from Eastbourne.
Sad and frustrating may it be though but it's not a defeat, just an error. Evidently Jack Battie being on loan was not eligible, due to rules, to play in the competition. These things happen from time to time and one can only learn from them. It's strange how the FA have differing rules for their competitions as I believe this would have been acceptable in either the FA Cup or Trophy.
I recall years ago now down at Bognor Regis Town we were dumped out of 2 competitions in a week. The Ryman's League Cup and the Sussex Senior Cup with Dean Wilkins being the offending player due to not being registered correctly I believe.
Who would want to be a football club secretary?
