Chaps & chapesses, so far we only have 149 signatures for this petition. with those paltry figures we won't have much hope of getting a ground. Can I please urge you to get everyone you know signing up for this. We need a big push now. Thanks

Regan, recent meeting with council they stated we "are pushing at an open door" so there is a favourable wind behind us this time. It is up to us to get involved in all planning meetings/consultations, identify suitable location, provide more detailed plans of what we want, etc. There is a small sub-committee set up to focus on this over next couple of months. One thing is that we need as many people as we can get to sign the petition. 243 is good but really it needs to be more like 2,430 or 24,300!!

Good spot Regan. Bullens Farm cropped up in the paper recently when the farmer who owns Bullens Farm laughed at the prospect of having a football ground there. Not quite sure why though. Gunners Farm is a new site to me in terms of it being considered. I thought we were looking at Blackwells Farm or Gosden Hill Farm.
In terms of getting more names on the petition I think we all need to work harder on our friends on facebook. Whilst a lot will be mutual friends, if we could all get the rest of our friends to sign we would surely get close to a thousand.

As I'm rather out of the loop, has anything further happened with any of this?

All planning in Guildford is being hampered by the town councilors inability to publish the 'Guildford Plan'. This is a legal document stating the rules of where the houses, roads, industrial developments will be placed. Guildford like most towns in the area is under pressure to build a huge amount of houses per year until 2030. To do this they are proposing to adjust the green belt. Local action groups have been formed to stall the document looking for legal flaws. To meet this demand they have pushed all of the development to the west of the borough as Ash and Tongham are outside of the green belt and are rich pickings with every field and tuft of grass being built on.
I am sure that we will have to wait until things change with the 'Guildford plan' at the earliest.
