Hi all !!
My great uncle Albert Tennant played for Guilford, Chelsea & Stanford.
Me & my Dad are looking for any inforation on him & his football or life in general, esp pictures.
He was my paternal grandads brother & all we know is that he played football for the above & then moved to south Africa with his family in about 1958 /1960 (approx dates)
Any information would be great, my grandad has passed away and the only info we have came from him
Thankyou in advance
Jo xx

This is one for Brownies and Jakesfanclub me thinks.
However, in our history you will see his name mentioned a few times.
He joined in 1959, when Guildford City were in the revamped Southern League division one. He managed the club to promotion, having finished 5th (Exeter City Reserves withdrawing to allow City up). In 1962 the side finished 3rd in the Southern League Premier, and fourth the following year (when they also won the Southern League Cup for the first time).
Albert Tennant left the managers post in Guildford in 1969, after a number of excellent cup victories on which others may be able to elaborate.
That's all I can garner from the City history page, but there may be more from other board members!

Re Albert Tennant,as Jake will agree all the questions were answered about Albert,I have an idea he died in South Africa.Played for Chelsea in 1930s-40s.Second best manager after Hyden Green.I have a couple of 'photos of him working on the pitch with the Groundsman. Remember him as a real gentleman.

Hi I am the granddaughter of Alberts sister Eileen, i know this thread is quite old but i would love to know more about the Tennant side of the family. My Gran died when i was 11 but i have fond memories of her. She had a large picture of Albert playing football which i am sure went to my uncle Ray. Its funny looking at pictures of Albert because there is such similarities between him and my uncle. Many thanks, Michelle.

My last recollections of Albert were down at Woodbridge Road Cricket Ground when he led a team against the local side. I remember David Cliss and Jimmy Greaves were in his side. I think Greavesie was wicket keeper. (I can remember seeing David Cliss playing at Wembley in Schoolboy Internationals).
Didn't Albert and David run a Window Cleaning business during their time at City?
Come on Pete Phillips give us a story!
