Guildford City Youth 2
Fleet Town Youth 3

On a greasy wet night Guildford City twice saw their lead slip away in this Southern Youth League fixture at The Spectrum.

Early indications had City strolling this one with complete domination and a goal after only three minutes. Damien Arthur wins his midfield battle to put Luke Glazier thru, who skiped past one defender and then slotted cooly under the diving keeper to put City ahead.

Fleet found their feet after some fifteen minutes of City domination to have their first test of the City goal. A fast paced game followed with the ball zipping about on the wet surface delivering an end to end game.

Just before half time Fleet equalised with a goal similar to City's opener though to many watching it clearly off side. Not given, so it's all level at half time.

City re-started in the same manner as kick off, with three chances on goal in the opening couple of minutes. But Fleet Town rallied and the end to end game showed both keepers in good form to deny their attackers time and again. Mid-way through the deadlock was broken with a special goal from Jack Holloway. The winger cut inside, retained possession under pressure and launched a 20-yard rocket to fly over everyone's heads, past the outstretched keeper to tuck just under the crossbar slightly left of centre. A peach.

Jubilation short lived though as Fleet equalised only moments later with a blisteringly fast attack down the left, squared to the far post and in, despite heavy challenges from the City defence who had done a great job so far.

At 2-2 with twenty to play the conditions of the night began to tell and with play being stopped for injured players more often, the pace mellowed. Some ten minutes from time Fleet scored their winner after inviting a foul wide right of the City area. The free kick floated over the spot for a text book volley home and a well taken opportunity.

City rallied looking to get a deserved point out of the game and were awarded two free kicks deep into Fleet's half in the closing minutes, but both attempts hit the wall to grant the visitors all three points.
